Mobile Free Health Care Clinic Coming To White County This Weekend

Free medical, dental and vision care coming to White County this weekend.

Remote Area Medical will serve residents Saturday and Sunday on a first-come, first-serve basis at White County High School. RAM Clinic Coordinator Brad Sands said that lines and wait times can often get long.

“RAM goes to the communities where we’re invited,” Sands said. “A coalition of community members there have identified a gap in care and want to bring some pre-medical, dental, and vision care to that community and help out their fellow neighbors.”

Sands said the parking lot line for the clinic will open at midnight on Saturday, with the clinic opening at 6 AM the next morning. Sands said dental care was the primary request identified by citizens who asked RAM to come to White County.

“That’s what we do, there’s a lot of people out there that their not able to get to the doctor, or maybe they can’t afford to go to the dentist and get a tooth pulled,” Sands said. “So they’ve been walking around for three years with some pain in their mouth.”

Sands said no insurance is required. Residents are not required to provide their real name upon receiving care.

“You could tell me your name is Bugs Bunny, and I’m still gonna take great care of you,” Sands said. “We’re gonna get that tooth out, or we’re gonna get that filling in or cleaning down. Whatever it is you need we’re gonna get you taken care of with great quality health care.”

Sands said it is important for those who are waiting overnight to remember any and all mediation they need to take in the morning. Sands said it is also important for those planning on waiting in line to bring plenty of food and water.

Sands said anyone can identify community medical care needs and request RAM outreach on their website.
