McMinnville Nativity Festival Taking COVID Precautions

The McMinnville Nativity Festival will be celebrating the true meaning of Christmas this year, while still trying to keep the community safe.

Festival Coordinator Miriam Crawford said people were reaching out and wondering if things would be canceled. However, Crawford said creating an outdoor drive-thru was a labor of love, to keep the Christmas Spirit alive.

She said events like this, is what the community needs during the pandemic.

“When people have had to stay home a lot more and kind of reevaluate many of the things that are important to them,” Crawford said. “This will help remind them of that, and help them this time of year… Some of them may have lost loved ones but there’s great hope.”

Crawford said there will even be a DVD to take home at the end of the drive-thru. She said this is a collection of nativity scenes from around the world, for those who do not want to leave home during the pandemic.

“They can share it with aunt Betty who can’t get out because she’s afraid to this time of year or someone in a nursing facility,” Crawford said. “Anything to bring a little Christmas joy, we don’t want to lose our Christmas spirit this year.”

The drive-thru nativity will be on December 12 from noon until 4:00 PM and December 13 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Crawford said the drive-thru will be set up at 526 Shangri La Lane.
