Master Guitarist Jacob Johnson At The Place Theatre Friday Night

Crossville will receive a visit from guitar virtuoso Jacob Johnson at the Palace Theatre this Friday.

Palace Theatre Supervisor Todd Olson said that Johnson’s guitar playing is like nothing they’ve had at the theater.

“He plays it so many different ways other than strumming,” Olson said. “He taps it, he beats it, he drums it. He’s really a non-traditional acoustic player.”

Olson said the theater wants to have new and innovative shows, and that Johnson is one of those performers.

“We’re always looking for that interesting, unusual, intimate experience that can fit well in our three hundred street venue,” Olson said. “That you just don’t get to see in other places.”

Olson said that Johnson has been lauded by guitar greats like Tommy Emmanuel, and he hopes that Johnson’s performance is a memorable one for audiences.

“We have lots of country artists, we have lots of live music here, but Jacob is different,” Olson said. “He plays some classics, he plays a lot of music that he has written, so it’s a real unusual mix and I just kind of fell in love with it.”

Jacob Johnson’s show starts at 7 p.m. Friday night, with tickets at $15 dollars for general admission.
