Wal-Mart, Kroger and Sam’s Club are among a growing list of retailers requiring shoppers to wear masks.
Mike Dorey of Rickman headed to Walmart Thursday. He questions the usefulness of wearing a mask but will follow Wal-Mart’s request.
“I do not really know the size of the macrons of the germs and what the mask does and how effective it really is,” Dorey said. “I have questions on the science of that, but if it is a requirement, it is better to go along.”
Today, Target, CVS and Walgreens joined the list of stores requiring mask wearing. Putnam County Student Allyson Miller said she wears a mask in public to protect herself and others at-risk.
“I think it is a good, because I do not want to get the coronavirus,” Miller said. “I do not want to die. I want to live a full life. So, I think it is good that they are going to do that, so a lot of people do not get sick.”
Walmart will start enforcing mask policies starting Monday. Shelia Hergis of Monterey said mask wearing should be decided by the individual. Not a store.
“We all know our own bodies,” Hergis said. “If they can prove that yes, it really helps a lot that might be good, but if not, I am not for this being mandatory.”
Amy Mahoney said mask mandates coming from retailers is a responsible move.
“I feel like it is a good thing,” Mahoney said. “I think people should be wearing face masks to protect themselves and other people.”
