An Overton County jury has convicted a man on charges stemming from a fatal 2017 crash.
Shannon C. Harville found guilty Wednesday on charges of vehicular homicide by intoxication, vehicular homicide by recklessness, and two counts of vehicular assault.
The accident happened January 27 on Hanging Limb Highway near the Lovejoy market.
Authorities said Harville’s vehicle left the roadway when he attempted to negotiate a curve at a high rate of speed. His Nissan Sentra came back across the roadway, entered the on-coming travel lane, and collided head-on with a Nissan Maxima, driven by 27-year-old Shannon Cook.
The impact instantly killed Cook and seriously injured two of her passengers, identified as Joy Pugh and Thomas Cook.
Prosecutors said a blood sample from Harville tested positive for a high level of methamphetamine.
Harville’s sentencing hearing will take place January 21.
