Man Charged with DUI on South Willow Avenue

Cookeville Police Department arrested a 23-year-old man for driving under the influence on South Willow Avenue.

CPD charged Santos Waldemar Francisco Perez after they noticed a vehicle driving in and out of traffic while failing to signal.

As police approached, the vehicle began to run another vehicle off the road. According to the arrest warrant, Perez had watery eyes, slurred speech, unsteady feet, and an odor of alcoholic beverage.

Santos Perez, 23, faces one count of DUI after being pulled over on South Willow Avenue Wednesday. His bond is set at $2,500.

Once the vehicle was stopped, the arresting officer noticed Perez possessed several cans of Bud Light in the arm and dash area of the vehicle in plain view.

The arrest warrant indicates Perez failed to complete all of the field sobriety tasks and could not give a complete address to the officer.

Perez is currently being held at the Putnam County Jail on $2,500 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 5.
