Maintenance Work for Cookeville Water Tank

The concrete water tank on Pilot Knob is getting repairs completed.

Cookeville Water and Sewer Director Ronnie Kelly said the work will address concrete chipping around the bottom edge. Kelly said this will be about a $14,000 dollar repair. He said he wants to try and have it scheduled in October.

“It’s just a maintenance issue, you know every tank, it’s like painting a metal tank, you paint them every 20 years,” Kelly said. “This concrete tank you’re gonna have some spalling happen on it and so we’re just gonna do some patching on it and everything will be good.”

City Council approved the contract Thursday. Kelly said crews will mobilize on site once the repair contract is signed.

“We’re contracting with the tank contractor that built the tank,” Kelly said. “We’re having them come back in and do the repairs.”
