Local Prayer Groups Taking Part In National Day Of Prayer Thursday

Cookeville’s West End churches calling for the community to participate in the National Day of Prayer Thursday.

Reverand Thirman Bulluck said if there was ever a time for people to come together and pray for the nation, it is now. He said they want to continue the effort of lifting one another up and praying for the common good.

“After the Lord took his ascent into heaven to be with the Father, the next thing that happened in the church universal was that they had all things in common,” Bulluck said. “They waited on the spirit of the Lord to move them and they helped one another. And that’s what’s needed in this country right now.”

Bulluck said there will be songs and sermons led by local prayer warriors. He said they will preach about Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness, and other topics.

Bulluck said the West End’s celebration will be in support of the main National Day of Prayer event taking place at noon on the Putnam County Courthouse Square. He said it will take place at 5 p.m. at the West End Picnic Pavillion.

“And I know today there is a lot of division in this nation but I think one thing most people are unified in is that this nation needs prayer,” National Day of Prayer Cookeville Chapter Leader Marcia Mullins said.
