Sidewalks along Livingston’s East Main and East Broad Streets will be repaired this summer.
Downtown Revitalization Committee Chairman Ray Evans said the sidewalks are over 80 years old.
“Many of them have been covered up with debris and with grass,” Evans said. “They don’t meet the American Disabilities Act requirements, so we are bringing all of those sidewalks back up to current standards in order to make them safer and promote pedestrian activity.”
The City of Livingston was awarded a T-DOT grant last year to fund the project. Evans said the project will extend from the square to the chamber of commerce building.
Evans said final construction plans could be submitted to T-DOT as early as this week. He said the review process could take up to two months.
“It’s a little hard to predict right now how long reviews take with all of the COVID-19 issues and not everyone in their office,” Evans said. “It’s a little harder to review plans remotely than if you were in your office around your normal table situation.”
Evans said bidding will begin after their construction plans are accepted. He said the project could take four to six months to complete.
