Livingston Restricting Brush Disposal With New Rules

City Of Livingston implementing stricter rules to deal with the disposal of brush.

Mayor Curtis Hayes said the city will no longer take any brush that is bigger than nine inches in diameter.

“The reason being our chipper, that’s the size that it will take to be able to dispose of this brush and other items,” Hayes said. “And we used to be able to burn, but we no longer have a permit to burn. And so we have nowhere to put this brush and any other wooded items. So we’re asking all residents that if they hire a contractor to cut up their brush and their trees or any of their landscape and timber, whatever they have, for the contractor to haul it off and not put it by curbside.”

Hayes said when residents do work themselves, they need to also make sure the brush is cut appropriately before leaving for disposal.
