The city of Livingston is looking to hire a new Street and Sanitation Department Supervisor after the retirement of Wayne Peek.
Livingston Mayor Curtis Hayes said Peek had been in the position for some 40 years. The city is looking for a candidate with at least five years of street or solid waste experience and at least three years of supervisory experience.
“Anytime you lose experience, the quality of a person that has been in that position, sure is tough shoes to fill when someone walks out the door with nearly 40 years of service under their belt,” Hayes said.
Hayes said Peek is still on the job as the city works through the transition. Applications will be accepted at Livingston City Hall through April 26.
He said the new supervisor would oversee all road construction projects and coordinate garbage collection.
“We’re looking for the most experienced candidate that can fill the job description,” Hayes said.
The city is seeking a candidate with strong leadership and communication skills, and a thorough understanding of construction techniques, methods, and equipment. The new hire will be tasked with mentoring construction crews and ensuring projects are completed safely, while also ensuring adherence to industry standards and specifications and maintaining a high level of quality in maintenance and construction activities.
