Livingston Getting Natural Gas Refund After Rate Case Ruling

Livingston will receive a some $35,000 refund towards its natural gas fund after a rate change from its supplier.

Mayor Curtis Hayes said the ruling came down from the Tennessee Regulatory Authority.

“Makes me feel good when we have money returning back to that particular account in natural gas,” Hayes said. “That just gives us means to go out and lay more gas line and help folks out.”

Hayes said a timeline of reimbursement has not been shared but anticipates the funding to come back in about four months.

According to Alan Lingerfelt of Symmetry Energy, the money comes from a East Tennessee Natural Gas rate case filed to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Lingerfelt said prices were found to be over priced for seven months of this year.

Lingerfelt said a new, lower rate was implemented and the difference over that time was refunded.
