Livingston businesses can reopen Monday according to Mayor Curtis Hayes.
“Restaurants can reopen,” Hayes said, “Retail stores, hair salons, and barber shops can all reopen in Livingston.”
Hayes said businesses should continue to maintain CDC guidelines for hygiene and social distancing.
“Wash your hands with 70 percent alcohol for at least twenty seconds with hot water,” Hayes said. “Wear your mask and your gloves. Keep your social distance of at least six foot. Have no more in your retail stores than ten people.”
Hayes said restaurants have tighter restrictions than normal.
“On your occupancy load, make sure you are not over 50 percent of your load,” Hayes said. “Each restaurant will have that certificate hanging in their restaurant on how many people can be there.”
Andy Langford, Director of the Overton County Health Department, said both public officials and business have a responsibility to protect customers.
“We all have a responsibility to protect ourselves, our employees, and the public when they come into your place of business,” Langford said. “We hope (businesses) will work with us to take some of the guidelines that our out there and take (safe) measures.”
Hayes said that even with reopening the city, the chance remains that restrictions may be reinstated if the COVID-19 number increase.
Hayes said Livingston City Hall will reopen to the public May 11.
