Livingston pursuing $4.3 million of state funding to address three projects in the city’s water system.
Mayor Curtis Hayes said the largest undertaking would be transitioning the water system to automatic reading meters.
“We would be using some of our TDEC eligibility ARPA funds to help along with this funding if we were to get it,” Hayes said. “The drinking water loan all of that grant would be for planning, design and construction.”
Hayes said the project would also install zone meters in rural areas that can quickly detect leaks. Hayes said the raw water intake at the Cumberland River also needs upgrades. Hayes said the city would like to build a new pump with other equipment upgrades.
Hayes said the funding application falls under the state’s revolving loan program for drinking water. Hayes said he hopes to gain loan forgiveness through a small and disadvantaged community program.
This loan application is the second Livingston has submitted this year. The other would fund buyout options for Cash Street properties impacted by Dillon Pond flooding.
