Large Overton Co Power Outage Restored After Fallen Dead Tree

Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation crews have restored power to the majority of customers after a large power outage Thursday morning.

Livingston District Manager Ben Winningham said more than 1,000 members were without power due to high winds and dead trees.

“We had a very large outage this morning in the Willow Grove area due to a dead poplar tree that fell and broke a main line pole,” Winningham said. “That’s a line that we can not backfeed, so we had no choice to leave them without power to replace the pole.”

Winningham said less than 40 members remain without power at this hour. Winningham said all connections should be restored by the end of the day.
