LA Hosting Incoming Freshmen Parent Night

Parents and incoming freshmen can prepare for the transition to high school through Livingston Academy’s Parent Night.

Principal Richard Melton said the Tuesday event is to get families more familiar with the school.

“This is the beginning of part of that transition period from eighth grade or middle school to high school as ninth graders,” Melton said. “But, this is really the first opportunity to get to meet them and to meet their parents and kind of let them know what to expect.”

Melton said guidance counselors will speak to parents and students about school operations in the gymnasium. Melton said there will be time for follow-up questions.

“We start at six o’clock,” Melton said. “Hopefully, we will have most people in before then. We will be taking temperatures and encouraging masks and social distancing, but our gymnasium is big enough we believe we can get everyone in there.”

Melton said having this parent night is important with last year’s being cancelled for COVID. If you can not make the meeting, Melton said the presentation will also be available live on the school’s Facebook page.
