The Putnam County School System has chosen Max Petett of Kentucky as Cookeville High School’s next principal.
According to a press release, Petett had previously served as Monroe County High School’s principal for six years before accepting the Cookeville job.
During Petett’s time at Monroe County, the school saw a 98 percent graduation rating between 2013 and 2018. The school was also recognized by USA Today as one of the nation’s top-performing schools from 204 and 2017.
Petett has served as a Monroe County school administrator for 15 years, both as an assistant principal and principal. He also worked as a high school teacher in Kentucky for another 15 years before joining Monroe County’s administration team.
