Jig Head Pizza Restaurant Will Serve Liquor, Beer, Wine In Algood

The Jig Head Brewing Company is opening a pizza restaurant in Algood now that liquor by the drink is allowed.

Owner Manny Edwards said the referendum led to his decision for opening a restaurant instead of expanding in Cookeville. Edwards said the original plan was just to sell Jig Head beer.

“Since the ordinance in Algood actually required it, that the liquor by the drink license from the state of Tennessee is tied to the beer license that’s issued by Algood,” Edwards said. “We had to do it anyway. So, that was an easy decision, okay let’s go right ahead.”

Edwards said the plan is to serve beer, wine and liquor alongside wood-fire pizza. Edwards said there is not a hard date set for opening.

The Jig Head Pizza restaurant will be located on Main Street in Algood next to the post office.

“I’m not sure how long the construction and the licensing is going to take,” Edwards said. “So, we’re going to open as soon as possible. I will say that I’m fairly confident that we can do it before the Summer.”

Edwards said opening a restaurant in Algood is also based on the growth he sees downtown. He said events like First Fridays are setting the tone for how Algood wants to move forward.

“The downtown area in Algood is going to be up and coming,” Edwards said. “It’s gonna be just like the West side in Cookeville. It’s going to be exciting and trendy.”

Edwards said he has hired a certified Pizzaiolo from Chicago to make pizzas and manage the restaurant. He said there will not be beer brewing at the restaurant, but that will continue in Cookeville.
