Jamestown Nearing Contract Signing For New Splash Pad

The City of Jamestown hopes to move forward with its splash pad project before the end of this year.

Mayor Lyndon Baines said he’ll be signing the grant contract in the near future.

“As soon as I sign the contract, construction will start,” Baines said. “We’ve already had some engineering work done by some people planning on working with us. By next summer the splash pad should be ready.”

Jamestown will use a $200,000 Local Parks and Recreation Grant to pay for the project. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) awarded the grant to the city in August 2018.

Baines said the grant required him to attend a number of classes at the TDEC office in Cookeville.

“On the 3rd of September I went to the last class,” Baines said. “They told me it should be very soon that I can sign the contract. Once I sign the contract, we can start working. We can’t do anything right now because we won’t get reimbursed for it.”

The splash pad will be built behind the Jamestown Community Center near the current city pool.
