Jackson Utility District Down To 150 Water Outages

The Jackson County Utility District remains under a Boil Notice until further notice as crews work to restore water and water pressure.

Office Manager Crystal Bean said crews made progress Monday, cutting the number of water outages from 850 to roughly 150. Bean said water has been restored to Roaring River, Big Bottom and North Springs communities.

“We’re needing a little more time for the tanks to fill to finish out the rest of our customers in the Flynns Lick community, Schelley, Free State Road,” Bean said. “We still have several of those customers, unfortunately out of water.”

Bean said that crews are currently working to restore water on Celina Highway. Bean said that crews are slowly turning water tank valve lines on.

“Just so it wouldn’t overload all the usages at one time,” Bean said. “They’ve just slowly turned one valve at a time on, so it wouldn’t overload and cause the tank to drop back down.”

At this time, Bean said residents who are without water can pick up bottled water at the Jackson County Rescue Squad Building at 703 School Drive. She said someone will be there to help distribute water to residents in need until 6:00 PM, Monday night.

Bean cautioned residents that a boiling notice will be in effect until next week, even when water is fully restored. She said Jackson County Utility District will let residents know when that notice is lifted.
