Jackson Seeking Professional Services For Airport Development

Jackson County issued a request for professional services to help in the development of the Jackson County Airport.

Mayor Randy Heady said that this process is one that occurs about every five years. He said that engineering services like these help get airport funding, maintain upkeep, and assist in new projects and upgrades.

“There are always opportunities to develop your airport and move it forward,” Heady said. “Engineering, they take care of the paperwork, there are so many legal things that you have to make sure that you do. And then we’re also always doing Airport Layout Plans and they help you to put those together.”

Heady said that the engineering services have played a huge role in their current plan to expand the airport by 10 hangar lots. He said in this process the engineer services have helped apply for grants and answer questions.

Heady said while they’re happy with their current engineer services, they decided to go through the formal request process this year.

“A lot of time with professional services we just ask like what we did here we ask for qualifications and then you pick an engineering firm to work with,” Heady said. “We’ve been with GMC which was formally PDC for the last five years. And to continue to get federal dollars through the state, we have to go through this procurement process once every five years when it comes to the airport.”

Heady said that those who meet the specifications and qualifications can reach out to his office for more information. He said that they will be interviewing those candidates that they feel they can work with and will hopefully pick a firm soon.
