Jackson County Director Of Schools Jason Hardy said he is pleased with the consistency seen across the system, in last week’s State Education Report Card.
Jackson Schools earned two As for its elementary schools, a B for the high school, and a C for the middle school. Hardy said the news even better, considering that Gainesboro Elementary and Dodson Branch Elementary improved from Bs last year.
“We have a district vision and district goals,” Hardy said. “The school level is buying in, the families are buying in. We’ve got great people in places and we’ve got great families and when you kind of keep your eye on the target and try to put the students first in all your decisions, usually you see success.”
Hardy said he is not concerned about the C for Jackson County Middle School as the state has said a C is still “on target” in this rating system. Hardy said he is thrilled that the system is proving it provides a quality education across the board.
“If you’re a student or a family member or a staff or faculty of Jackson County Schools, you should be proud,” Hardy said. “We’re doing great work here in Jackson County and we’re very proud of that.”
Hardy said the district will use the data that comes with the letter grades to plan for even better scores in the future. Hardy said the district will not rest on its laurels just because the schools are doing great.
“These are metrics that, they can’t show everything but we want to take that data and dive deeper and really use it to continue to improve our schools,” Hardy said. “Whether they were an A school or a C school or whatever, there’s always room for improvement and we’ll use these results to plan for our upcoming school year next year.”
