Jackson County Opens Three Shelters For Residents Without Power

Three shelters are opening in Jackson County for residents without power.

These sites include:

Jackson County Rescue Squad Building at 703 School Drive

Dodson Branch Community Center at 16160 Dodson Branch Highway

West End Fire Department at 110 Salt Lick Creek Road

EMA Spokesperson Derek Woolbright said outages are countywide, hitting North Jackson County the hardest. Woolbright said that every community in Jackson County has at least some residents without power.

Woolbright said residents can just show up if they do not have access to a phone. He said residents can call and be directed to the best shelter for their location or call if they have no transportation.

“If you are out of electricity and in need of somewhere to stay, we’d be more than happy to put you in a shelter,” Woolbright said. “If travel is an issue for you getting there, we’d be more than happy to find you a ride to there too.”

Jackson County EMA is asking that any residents in need of a shelter can get more information by contacting EMA at (931) 268-6133 or (931) 268-2556.
