Jackson Co. To Purchase New Pumper Tanker, Ambulance Equipment

Jackson County set to purchase a new pumper tanker for its fire department and CPR equipment for ambulances.

County Mayor Randy Heady said the tanker will cover the area of the fifth district to help with response times. He said it will be stationed at the Flynn’s Lick Fire Department.

“It was a part of the county that did not have a pumper tanker,” Heady said. “And they have a pretty vibrant fire department down there. They have a lot of members, and they really respond when well to calls when they come across from 911.

Heady said the purchase of the more than $400,000 pumper tanker was made possible through a CDBG grant. He said it required a 10 percent match from the county which will use American Rescue Plan funding.

Heady said the county is also set to purchase some CPR devices for its ambulance services. He said the purchase will be made from the American Rescue Plan funding.

“The better equipment we give them the better job they can do in saving lives,” “I believe we have some fo the best emergency personnel in the Upper Cumberland, I’m really proud of the commission for approving this purchase to help them only get better.”
