Jackson County School Board working to fill the Director of Schools position following Kristy Brown’s resignation.
Brown is set to take a role with the state starting July 15th. School Board Chair Mark Brown said they have posted the position and are accepting applications until Friday.
“It’s real quick (turnaround), but we’re not going to, I myself am not going to, make a quick decision,” Brown said. “We’re just trying to put it out there and see who all is qualified for this job, you know.”
Brown said those who are interested can pick up applications at the Jackson County School Board. He said applicants will have to have a Master’s Degree, educational licenses, and at least three years of educational experience.
Brown said they hate to lose Kristy Brown, but that it says a lot about her that the state would select her to serve as a Chief Academic Officer. He said they are blessed in Jackson County to have great people and leaders that come from the area to go to higher level.
“I think that’s why they picked our Director of Schools because we’ve been so successful and done such a good job,” Brown said. “And I know in my, I think going on 24 years being on the school board, we’ve seen a lot of changes and made a lot of improvements but we’re proud of where we’ve come to.”
Brown said after the application deadline Friday, the board will meet Monday. He said there, the board members will discuss applications and take the next steps to find a new director.
