The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce is seeking funding to create an executive director position.
President Jordan Hunter said he has expressed the need to the county’s budget committee and received positive feedback.
“What we are looking for is a two year commitment from the county hopefully,” Hunter said. “And if we can get that and try to put a number to that, I plan to go before the city (Gainesboro) and ask them to try to make up some of that difference.”
Hunter said the demand for the position has grown with tourism increasing within the county. Hunter said he would like the full-time position to be added into the next budget cycle if possible.
