Immerse In German Culture At Crossville’s Oktoberfest

It is being called the premier German Festival in the Upper Cumberland.

Tickets are on sale for the 30th annual Knights of Columbus Oktoberfest in Crossville. Publicity Coordinator Rita Reali (Re-Ally) said the event serves as a fundraiser for the Catholic organization.

“There’s going to be food. There’s going to be music. There’s dancing. There’s going to be beer, of course,” Reali said. “We’re going to have a dozen different types of beer on tap including a private reserve pumpkin cider.”

Reali said Schnitzel plates of all varieties will be available along with German chocolate desserts. Reali said the two-day event is an opportunity for local people to learn more about German culture.

“You’ll see them in traditional dress,” Reali said. “Embroidered top dresses and vest for the gentlemen and fun little hats,” Reali said. “It’s great. It’s a fun little time. Folks really get into the music, and they dance and have a wonderful time.”

Reali said the funds from the event go to many different non-profits across the region. Reali said with last year’s event cancelled, participation is needed to help others.

“The Knights of Columbus in Cumberland County have been hosting Oktoberfest since 1931,” Reali said. “They did it as both a fundraiser and also a fun time. A way to bring the community together.”

Reali said the event begins October 15th and runs until the 16th. Reali said pre-tickets can be purchased now on the Crossville Oktoberfest website for $6 or at the gates for $8. The festival takes place at 2892 Highway 70 East in Crossville.
