Human Remains Found Believed To Be Missing Baxter Man

Human remains found in Putnam County Wednesday believed to be those of missing person Perry Isaac Bowman.

The 35-year-old Baxter resident was reported missing on December 1st after his father had not heard from him since September. Sheriff Eddie Farris said the remains were found near Bowman’s home in a wooded area at the end of Gant Road near Bethlehem Church of Christ.

“This is an open investigation,” Farris said. “We’re working with the District Attorney’s Office, and our investigators are working hard to find the truth whatever that is. With the medical examiner’s office, hopefully we will be able to do that sooner rather than later.”

Farris said local firefighters that live nearby found the remains while roaming the wooded area. Farris said preliminary identifying factors point towards the remains belonging to Bowman.

“Since Bowman was reported missing on December 1st, our investigators have been working tirelessly in attempting to locate Bowman,” Farris said. “This is not the outcome we hoped for. I ask that you keep the Bowman family in your thoughts and prayers.”

Farris said he could not comment if foul play is suspected. Farris said the sheriff’s office is awaiting an autopsy for further information on the cause of death.
