Crews finished repairing the Highway 111 railroad crossing in White County Wednesday.
The roadway will reopen Thursday after being closed for the past five days.
County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson said he’s excited about the project being finished.
“It was just a rough railroad crossing and we had contacted TDOT about it being rough. They informed us that it was owned by the railroad authority and was not a TDOT project,” Robinson said. “We went through the railroad authority and got funding to repair that railroad crossing.”
The $250,000 project did not cost the county any money. The Tri-County Railroad Authority used a $200,000 grant to repair the 120-foot crossing.
Robinson said the process to reopen the road will begin at 2:30 a.m.
“Crews are striping the road now. They are going to allow some time for everything to dry and cure a little bit more,” Robinson said. “I have been assured that Hwy 111 will be open by 5:00 a.m, probably sooner.”
