Highlands Economic Partnership aims to create the next generation of leaders through a program rolling out this August.
Director of Investor and Community Relations Adam Poe said the one-year initiative will teach new or middle manager positions how to lead a business.
“It’s to give confidence to those who are about to take the next step of leadership within their company, so that they can attack more complex issues and be able to deliver for the citizens of the highlands region.”
Poe said the organization will target candidates from 10 industry sectors across Jackson, Overton, Putnam and White Counties. Poe said goal is to create a leadership network across the area to help develop more industry opportunities.
Poe said participants will learn about fundamental principals such as team empowerment, strategic planning and crisis problem solving. The class will meet quarterly.
The Highlands Leader Program was created by Dr. Bob Bell a few years ago.
