The dispute over the use of East Fork Lane in Overton County will head to court next month.
A status hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan 22 in Overton County with a chancery court hearing slated for Jan. 25 in Putnam County.
Chancellor Ronald Thurman previously denied Overton County’s request in October for a restraining order, which would have prevented two residents from gating the roadway and blocking access.
Overton County Commissioners voted earlier this year to have chancery court decide if East Fork Road is a public or private roadway.
The roadway leads to a popular swimming location known as ‘the blue hole’. Local residents began blocking access to the location after litter and property damage were discovered in the surrounding area.
