Halloween Crash Injures Two People In Cookeville

A head-on collision injured two people in Cookeville Tuesday night.

According to a press release from the Cookeville Police Department, the crash happened around 8:50 p.m. on North Dixie Avenue near Kenway Street.

Officials said 51-year-old Leonard Lowe of Baxter had to be airlifted to Nashville’s TriStar Medical Center following the crash. As of this morning, Lowe is listed in stable condition.

Police said Lowe was traveling south on Dixie when his 1993 Mercury Cougar was struck head on by a northbound 1996 Toyota 4Runner driven by 24-year-old Grant Reed of Cookeville.

A passenger in Reed’s vehicle, identified as Tiffany McDermott, suffered minor injuries and received treatment at Cookeville Regional. Reed also suffered minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene.

Officials said the crash remains under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken with police, are asked to call the Traffic Enforcement Division of the Cookeville Police Department at 931-520-5370
