Goodwill Wants Your Donations As You Make Room For New Gifts

This week serves as one of the highest donation weeks for Goodwill.

Middle Tennessee Communications Manager Chris Fletcher said the non-profit sees a 40 percent increase in donations as people make room for those items they received for Christmas.

“Those items are then sold in our stores and they have new life with a new purpose with a new family,” Fletcher said. “The money sold earned from the sale of those items is then used to support our non-profit mission.”

Fletcher said Goodwill wants your donations to help fund its Career Solutions program. Fletcher said thousands of people across the state receive training and services because of Goodwill shops.

“They are providing local folks with opportunities to attend classes, get career assistance and helping them with the ABC’s of employment,” Fletcher said. “Christmas and the holidays in general are when folks seem to donate to Goodwill.”

Fletcher said clothing and home goods are the most common items donated this time of year. Goodwill is located in Cookeville and Crossville.
