Garrett Takes Overton County Republican Primary For Sheriff

Overton County Sheriff John Garrett captured better than 52 percent of the vote Tuesday to win the Republican primary.

Garrett tallied 1508 votes to 783 for Shane Barlow and 607 for Marty Philpot. Turnover was described as steady in Overton County Tuesday.

In the Republican primary for county executive, Steven Barlow will face Ben Danner in August. Barlow defeated Robbie Cole 1632-619. Final numbers in the County Court Clerks race showed Victoria Looper capture 1784 votes to 1065 for Natalie Masters.

Overton County voters selected Jimmy Conner in the Register of Deeds race, beating Brenda Hammock. Lori Hammock took the Circuit Clerk race.
