The Town of Gainesboro will have a drive-thru window at city hall before year-end.
The Board of Aldermen voted Thursday to use the remaining $14,000 in CARES Act money to fund the project. Mayor Lloyd Williams said the window will help local residents.
“We’ve probably got like 400 people that are still coming in and paying each month,” Williams said. “With this, they can just drive through at any time. We don’t have to be here so I think it’s going to be really good for the city.”
Total price tag for the project will be $19,000. Williams said the extra $5,000 could be reimbursed so long as the project is completed before the end of the year.
Also Thursday night, the board approved recommendations from a Franklin-based risk management group. Williams said Public Entity Partners annually checks to make sure town facilities are up to code.
“This year they found a few things,” Williams said. “We had a couple of fire extinguishers that needed to be refilled, and we had a couple of trees that need to be cut down next to our building. But we’ll have them taken care of by the next meeting [in October].”
