Four Companies Interested In Supplying Fuel To UC Airport

Four companies have expressed interest in supplying fuel to the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport.

Airport Manager Dean Selby said a number of factors will be considered before awarding a contract.

“It’s not just the expense of the fuel,” Selby said. “It’s what are you going to charge us to process credit cards, what are you going to charge for our point of sale system, what kind of time frames can you get us fuel here? That’s very important, especially now with the volume we’re doing from time to time.”

Phillips 66, Epic, Shell, and Av Fuel have submitted proposals for supplying fuel to the airport. Selby said the length of the contract will depend on each companies proposal.

“We left in open on the RFP. I believe the maximum is five years that they can propose to provide it for,” Selby said. “Obviously, the longer you can set a contract up for, sometimes the better concessions you can get.”

Shell Aviation currently provides fuel to the airport, but without a contract agreement. The Upper Cumberland Regional Airport Board voted last month to seek RFP’s from potential fuel suppliers.

A three member committee will recommend one of the fuel companies to the board during next month’s meeting.
