Former Overton Republican Headquarters to be Demolished

The Overton County Commission approved the demolition of the former Republican headquarter building Monday.

County Executive Ben Danner said the demolition could take place within the next few weeks.

“We’ll have to wait until after Fall-o-ween is over with and after early voting is over with because we’ll have to close one lane of traffic down,” Danner said. “It’d be better to probably wait until after early voting is over.”

The county is set to construct a new building at the site of the former Republican headquarters at West Main Street and West Broad Street.

Danner said the city of Livingston and the highway department have agreed to assist in the demolition process. The county recently received a $300,000 cash donation towards a new county office building set to be built in place of the Republican headquarters.
