The Cookeville Fire Department responded with all its companies to a fire inside Outdoor Junction just after 12:30 PM on Tuesday.
Captain Shawn Roberson said the call came in after employees noticed smoke in the building. Roberson said two crews went into the shooting range area and got it extinguished after 27 minutes of actively fighting the fire.
“They made a great stop, most of the fire was contained above the shooting range and below the merchandise floor,” Roberson said. “It was some of the sound dampening insulation and some vent systems burnt up pretty good down there, but I think within a month or two they ought to be back in business.”
Roberson said the fire cause is still under investigation and cannot be determined yet. Although, Outdoor Junction said the fire was electrical on social media.
“We’re still looking into that, as fas as what the exact cause is,” Roberson said. “We’re not 100 percent sure at this time, so it’s still under investigation.
Roberson said 25 percent of the shooting range was damaged, and there were no injuries involved in the fire. He said everyone had evacuated the building by the time crews arrived on scene.
