Fentress County has accepted the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s offer to purchase property in Clarkrange.
County Executive Jimmy Johnson said the purchase is part of a project to widen Highway 127.
“They will purchase the land with the fire hall and the convenience center in Clarkrange near Little Rd, almost to the intersection of Highway 62 and 127,” Johnson said. “We voted to go ahead with that, to accept their purchase price. With that money, we will rebuild a fire hall and help rebuild the convenience center.”
Johnson said TDOT purchased the property for just over $193,000.
“So we will have to. Those two pieces of property, that have been bought, will be moving the fire hall back to another spot and location [along with] the convenience center also,” Johnson said.
TDOT expects to begin the widening of Highway 127 in 2021. The project will widen the roadway from Lowe Road in Cumberland County to the north of State Route 62 near Clarkrange.
