Fentress County officials are meeting with the state health department Tuesday to discuss options of moving vaccination locations.
County Executive Jimmy Johnson said increasing turnout for the vaccine is creating long lines near the county’s health department.
“I know today that where our health department is located here off of Main Street people are actually parked all the way down next to the next street in line waiting,” Johnson said. “We are getting a good response to it, and we’re probably having to move it to a new location.”
Johnson said about 3,000 residents have been vaccinated so far. Eligibility expanded last week to the 65 year old age group.
“It also includes our first responders that haven’t had it,” Johnson said. “School personnel and health career workers. What we have to do, of course, is call the health department and give them a number and sign up. Get on the waiting list, and they will call you.”
Johnson said recipients should come to their appointment 15 minutes early. COVID vaccines are also available at Walmart and Medi-Thrift Pharmacy in Fentress County. Call (931)-879-9936 to be placed on the county waiting list.
