Fentress Co. Completes Courthouse Project In Time For Halloween

Fentress County’s courthouse revitalization project has completed.

County Executive J. Michael Cross said the county had a goal to finish the project by tonight, when they expect to have thousands of trick-or-treaters in the downtown area.

“It’ll be the first time we will be able to utilize that new part of the courthouse with the stage and new walkways,” Cross said. “It’s going to be a great addition for the county.”

The county began the $300,000 project on the west side of the courthouse more than a year ago after the demolition of the old jail. Funding for the project came from the county, health department and chamber of commerce, which used a $50,000 beautification grant on the project.
