Fentress Chamber To Reactivate Leadership Programs

Leadership Fentress and Youth Leadership Fentress are gearing up for a comeback.

Chamber of Commerce Tourism and Membership Director Seth Vaughn said that the courses are personal development programs that connect adults and high school students with industry leaders in the area.

“I think that it’s an overall great thing to do to get involved with your community,” Vaughn said. “I believe that especially with our younger generation we need more community involvement. Like I’ve stated previously to some of the new staff there I think it’s very important that we get our young people involved now because they are our leaders of tomorrow.”

Vaughn said that the program had become inactive over the years due to community disinterest and lack of participation. He said that with renewed interest, more business partners, and more industry leaders, they are now able to revamp the program and make it active once again.

Vaughn said that it was his experiences like those brought forth by Youth Leadership Fentress that became instrumental to him in his goals and what he hopes to do in the future.

“Of course I was not involved in Youth Leadership Fentress because the program was not active when I was in high school,” Vaughn said. “However I was a part of different career and technical student organizations and in those organizations, I had the opportunist to meet community and industry leaders and I honestly believe that that is how I am in the position that I am in today.”

Vaughn said that there are two ways to sign up. He said that the Youth Leadership applications will be available at the Chamber office, Clarkrange High School, or the York Institute. He said Leadership Fentress applicants can pick one up at the chamber, or Vaughn can email those interested.
