Fentress County Commission approved a $1.1 million bid to replace a bridge on Jonesville Road over Bridge Creek.
Highway Superintendent Ryan Reed said the project would be 100 percent covered by T-DOT. He said the project is on T-DOT’s priority wish list.
“In six months it’ll be completely done,” Reed said. “So with the five-ton bridge limit that’s on there now, they’re going to build a bypass around so you’ll be able to bypass the bridge.”
Reed said the bridge is scheduled to start construction on Monday, November 28th. He said it should take about two weeks before bypass will allow traffic to continue on Jonesville Road.
Reed said the weight limit on the new bridge will be at least 40 tons. The work is set to include removal of current structures, road and drainage excavations, and new steelwork.
