Fentress County applying for grant funding to help its food bank.
County Executive Jimmy Johnson said the $500,000 would flow through the county. He said then, operations such as churches or non-profits can apply for a share.
“It’ll just be a boost to the folks that operate the local food bank,” “And also for the participants of the food bank. Right now is a good time to be getting this.”
Johnson said it can be used for items such as food packaging, refrigerators, or delivery vehicles. He said they hope to purchase a walk-in cooler for the local food bank.
Johnson said the cooler is much-needed, as the current cooler continually malfunctions. He said they hope to hear back from the grant application soon.
