Fall Creek Falls Hosting Spooktacular

Fall Creek Falls State Park is already getting Van Buren County residents in the Halloween Spirit with its Spooktacular event Saturday.

Park Ranger Savannah Couser said Spooktacular is one of the biggest events that the park holds every year. Couser said the event is so popular that people book campsites years in advance so they can participate. Couser said some of those campers are people who are out of towners.

“It provides an opportunity for the community to get together, celebrate, carve some pumpkins, and play some really cool games while they are here,” Couser said. “Just really get together with the community so the kids can get some good candy and have a good time.”

Spooktacular will run from 5pm to 9pm Saturday. Couser said there will be designated parking for those who attend the event. Couser said the whole park is used for the event. Couser said the only form of transportation within the park during Spooktacular is hay rides.

“I always love seeing the Van Buren and Bledsoe county tags in the campground but also we have people that have traveled across the country for this,” Couser said. “We have families that have had family members get on airplanes to come here and so we really love hearing that and that people just enjoy this event so much that they would be willing to book a flight to come here to hang out.”
