Extended hours for COVID testing in Putnam County will be available Monday and next Monday.
Putnam County Health Department Director Lisa Bumbalough said this extension is happening because there will be no COVID testing on Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Bumbalough said testing at the Putnam Fairgrounds will run from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM on November 23 and 30.
“I think the holidays this year, we need to be extremely careful during the holidays, so many people are asymptomatic with COVID,” Bumbalough said. “You certainly want to always presume that you’ve been exposed and at these gatherings be very careful, social distance and wear a mask.”
Bumbalough said even though people will want to be around their families, anyone who has been exposed or is exhibiting COVID symptoms should quarantine until they’ve gotten test results. She said she recommends trying to do Thanksgiving outdoors if possible this year.
On November 23 and November 30 COVID testing will have extended hours from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM. There will be no testing Thursday and Friday.
