Eric Belew Named New Cumberland Co. Football Coach

Cumberland County High School announced Friday that Eric Belew will serve as the Jets’ head football coach in 2019.

The 24-year-old out of Columbia last served as an assistant coach at Landmark Christian School in Fairburn, Georgia.

Belew also played for his father, Vance, at Columbia Central High School and went on to win the Class 5A state title in 2010. He played college football at Tennessee Tech and North Alabama prior to coaching.

Belew takes over a program that went 7-34 over the last four seasons under former head coach Ken Johnson. The program has only had three playoff appearances and 41 total wins since 2001, with their last postseason game coming in 2015.

Cumberland County High School says Belew will begin teaching and coaching at the school next month.
