Elsie Blaylock has been named the Director of UCHRA’s Van Buren County Head Start Program.
During Wednesday’s Board of Directors meeting, Executive Director Mark Farley said it was time to make Blaylock’s position official.
“I named Elsie Blaylock as the interim at that time until we knew exactly would happen with the early head start,” Farley said. “Having found out we did not receive that, I would like to make a recommendation to this board that we remove that interim title.”
Blaylock has worked with the facility for about 18 years and was named the interim in September. Blaylock said in a press release that she is humbled and excited to be director.
“During my time as director, I will continue to encourage the staff and children to be the best they can be and ensure that the children we serve obtain a strong educational base that will make them successful throughout their school years and life,” Blaylock said.
