Easter Storms Cause Fentress Power Outages

The storms on Easter Sunday caused up to 8,000 power outages in Fentress County. County Executive Jimmy Johnson said the main issue was fallen trees and limbs on power lines.

“We mostly had a lot of tree damage,” Johnson said. “There were trees blown down all over the county. The hardest probably hit this time was right around the city limits area and maybe south of town.”

Johnson said one home did receive enough damage to displace the residents. They are currently housed in a motel in town.

“Our Sheriff Michael Reagon was out all last night cutting stuff out of the road,” Johnson said. “Our highway department and Joe Reagan was out quite a bit last night. The rescue squad and the fire department helped take care of the city.”

All road ways in the county are clear and open. Johnson said there were no injuries or fatalities from the storm. Jamestown, Mount Helen area, and Clarkrange community received the most damage.

“We certainly appreciate the people who helped those, and everybody working together,”Johnson said. “We are really bless.”

Johnson said Volunteer Electric should have all power restored by the end of Monday.
