Early Voting Begins Wednesday

Early voting begins Wednesday for the March primaries and runs through February 25.

Putnam County Election Administrator Debbie Steidl said voters must show a photo ID upon entering polling locations.

“Now, if they have their voting card that’s great,” Steidl said. “That helps us look into the software and find them faster, but it’s not necessary. You don’t have to worry about not being able to vote if you don’t have your voting card because you can.”

Steidl said residents can use their phones to look at the state’s voting app, but the devices must be placed on silent.

“They can use their phone to look at the app,” Steidl said. “But they can’t be talking or texting on their phones.”

The election commission office will serve as the only early voting location in Putnam County during the 12-day period. Putnam County voters will select their nominee in the presidential election and choose nominees for Criminal Court Judge and Assessor of Property.

Early voting takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and  9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Steidl said the polls will be open on Presidents Day.
